Athlete Series: IMMD Training Update
It’s been a busy month of training and racing for Jason as he builds his fitness toward Ironman Maryland. Since my last update, Jason has completed another sprint triathlon (4th in his Age Group and made massive transition improvements) and has logged some serious bike and run mileage. He’ll cap off the finish of the Base Phase of training with one more triathlon, Mountain Lakes Olympic in two weeks time. Let’s break down what he’s been up to over the last several weeks.
Athlete Series: Jason’s First Tri Back
To get Jason back into the swing of things, we are building him from sprint to olympic distance events. Reason one for this is race availability within his work and family schedules, and reason two is just to get some racing in. The more you race, the more comfortable you are with being uncomfortable, no matter the distance.
New Runner: Rules of the Road
Hello friends! Today I wanted to talk basics. For a lot of you, you know the do's and don'ts to running on the roads. But every day there are new athletes getting out to run and it is important to know how to run when there is traffic that is not so concerned with your safety. So, I wanted to discuss a few basic 'rules of the road' if you will!
Athlete Series: IM Base Training
We kicked off Base Phase training three weeks ago with a bang. The bang was a FTP test and a 1000 yard TT to set new training zones. Since Jason had been doing a lot of running, he already had a run test under his belt so we did not do one at that time.
